SoundLincs Music Projects
Engaging, Empowering, Transforming
Our community music projects unite people from diverse backgrounds, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone is valued, regardless of demographics. We create safe spaces that inspire individuality, nurture creativity, and celebrate the richness of culture and community. Below are a selection of our current projects.

Harnessing the Power of Music to Prevent Suicide
SoundLincs Connect supports individuals transitioning from mental health wards back into the community. Funded by Lincolnshire County Council and Arts Council England, this initiative uses music-based interventions to reduce suicide risk, creating safe spaces where individuality, joy, and healing can thrive.
Co-designed with individuals who have lived experience, our structured musical activities help build resilience, enhance social inclusion, and support emotional regulation. By offering creative engagement during a time of heightened vulnerability, Connect provides a pathway to stability, connection, and hope - making a lasting impact on suicide prevention across Lincolnshire.
Referrals are accepted from Occupational Therapists, Community Mental Health Teams, Social Prescribers, or through self-referral. Working in partnership with mental health professionals and community support teams, Connect ensures a supportive transition from hospital to community, promoting continuity of care and long-term recovery.

Supporting Mental Health
UpBeat is funded by Arts Council England, The National Lottery, Shine Lincolnshire, The National Academy for Social Prescribing, and 4 Lincolnshire District Councils. The project is a Lincolnshire-wide social prescription referral service devoted to supporting mental health and wellbeing through music.
UpBeat provides both 1-2-1 and group support for adults with an interest in exploring music and unleashing their creative side. UpBeat groups take place across Lincolnshire and support a variety of musical interests from learning to play in an orchestra to African hand drumming, community singing and music production.

The UpBeat service is triggered through a referral from a social prescriber, health provider, and/or self-referral. SoundLincs then ensures a clear and prompt process for responding.

Revitalising Lincolnshire’s Heritage: Engaging Youth in the Art of Storytelling
Future of the Past has been funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, West Lindsey District Council, South Kesteven District Council and South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership. The project involves working with 6 heritage sites across Lincolnshire.

Many of these heritage sites have a well-developed offering for young people, but some acknowledge that they need help to make their site a place that young people would want to visit.

Through the Future of the Past, young people aged 11-25 are working with the sites to develop creative outputs based upon the venue’s assets and ambitions. This is enabled through the support provided by ‘Cultural Facilitators’ who coordinate and encourage collaboration between the heritage venues, young participants, and local communities. This is helping young people to develop real life skills such as communication, collaboration, design and creativity.
A secondary element of the project is also working with the venues and young people to create board positions for the young people to take part in active decision making in heritage venues which will embellish them with skills to take into their professional lives.

Creative Pathways to Rebuilding Identities
Inside Voices takes a unique, two-part approach to supporting people in the criminal justice system - starting in prison and continuing through their transition back into the community. This continuity is vital as the period immediately after release is when people are most vulnerable—and most at risk of reoffending. By offering consistent, creative support throughout this time, we give participants a better chance to break the cycle and build a more positive future.
In partnership with prison and probation teams across Lincolnshire, this project addresses a key gap in current services. While many programs focus on job skills and training, few provide opportunities for creative expression or mental health support. Inside Voices fills that gap, offering music-based activities that encourage self-reflection, emotional regulation, and community connection.

A Celebration of Community Singing
Lincolnshire Sings is a series of events which celebrate community singing. The project aims to bring together individuals, vocal groups and choirs, who have a passion for singing, to celebrate and experience high quality workshops delivered by a network of vocal leaders.
Lincolnshire Sings also encourages people to get involved and share their information on the Lincolnshire Sings Map which has been created by SoundLincs to recognise and record the many vocal groups and choirs within Lincolnshire.

Tuning in to Digital Skills
Tuning In is transforming lives by tackling homelessness through digital inclusion and creativity. By opening access to technology and digital training, it helps participants build the skills and confidence to reconnect with the world, from accessing essential services to finding new paths to work and communication.
By combining digital training with creative engagement, Tuning In empowers vulnerable individuals in Lincoln to overcome barriers, discover their potential, and take meaningful steps toward long-term inclusion.

Lincolnshire Secure Unit
Lincolnshire Secure Unit is a local authority run secure children’s home in Sleaford, with 11 places assigned to the Youth Custody Service.
