SoundLincs Music Projects

Engaging, Empowering, Transforming

Our community music projects unite people from diverse backgrounds, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone is valued, regardless of demographics. We create safe spaces that inspire individuality, nurture creativity, and celebrate the richness of culture and community. Below are a selection of our current projects.

SoundLincs Social Prescription Service - Lincolnshire

Tailored creative interventions to support mental health and wellbeing

With an estimated 14% of Lincolnshire’s population living with a mental health condition, many individuals face long waits for treatment and limited access to preventative, strengths-based services. Our Social Prescription Service offers a music-based approach to early intervention, post-discharge support, and wider community engagement, helping to break the cycle of crisis, isolation, and unemployment.

The programme operates across three integrated phases:

Phase One provides accessible music activities in acute and rehabilitation wards, and social care settings, promoting emotional regulation and engagement before formal referral.

Phase Two extends into structured community-based support, including one-to-one sessions for those facing anxiety, low confidence, or communication barriers, alongside regular music groups that foster social connection, creative expression, and resilience.

Phase Three focuses on economic wellbeing, offering vocational pathways into education, volunteering, and employment, helping participants gain transferable skills and long-term opportunities.

Creative Pathways to Rebuilding Identities

Inside Voices takes a unique, two-part approach to supporting people in the criminal justice system - starting in prison and continuing through their transition back into the community. This continuity is vital as the period immediately after release is when people are most vulnerable—and most at risk of reoffending. By offering consistent, creative support throughout this time, we give participants a better chance to break the cycle and build a more positive future.

In partnership with prison and probation teams across Lincolnshire, this project addresses a key gap in current services. While many programs focus on job skills and training, few provide opportunities for creative expression or mental health support. Inside Voices fills that gap, offering music-based activities that encourage self-reflection, emotional regulation, and community connection.

Revitalising Lincolnshire’s Heritage: Engaging Youth in the Art of Storytelling

Future of the Past has been funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, West Lindsey District Council, South Kesteven District Council and South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership. The project involves working with 6 heritage sites across Lincolnshire.

Many of these heritage sites have a well-developed offering for young people, but some acknowledge that they need help to make their site a place that young people would want to visit.

Through the Future of the Past, young people aged 11-25 are working with the sites to develop creative outputs based upon the venue’s assets and ambitions. This is enabled through the support provided by ‘Cultural Facilitators’ who coordinate and encourage collaboration between the heritage venues, young participants, and local communities. This is helping young people to develop real life skills such as communication, collaboration, design and creativity.

A secondary element of the project is also working with the venues and young people to create board positions for the young people to take part in active decision making in heritage venues which will embellish them with skills to take into their professional lives.

Lincolnshire Secure Unit

Lincolnshire Secure Unit is a local authority run secure children’s home in Sleaford, with 11 places assigned to the Youth Custody Service.

SoundLincs has been contracted to run weekly workshops, exploring music production and a variety of instruments. The unit also has a small studio space that is currently unused, which SoundLincs will be helping to re-establish.

Woodlands Academy
