When in Rome... come and sing the music of Palestrina and his Rome contemporaries. Day workshop for voices and Renaissance instruments led by tutors Greg Skidmore (I Fagiolini) and Sue Addison (His Majestys Sagbutts and Cornetts).

'Think Palestrina only wrote motets to be sung by a cappella choirs? Think again! The music of Palestrina (500 years old this year), and his contemporaries and successors works really well with voices and instruments and we look forward to enjoying a rare opportunity to perform some really beautiful music in this way.'

Lincoln Choral Society

Lincoln Choral Society presents Will Todd's Mass in Blue. The concert will also feature two other contemporary pieces, Every Day Wonders, The Girl from Aleppo (Cecilia McDowell) and Five Days That Changed the World (Bob Chilcott). These two works will involve local school children's choirs and choral scholars and musicians from Lincoln University. It will be an exciting concert using Lincoln Cathedral's fabulous acoustics.

Music Divine: A concert of Renaissance music for voices and instruments performed by the Lincoln Renaissance Band and friends conducted by Richard Lindsay.

The Lincoln Renaissance Band are joined by the Lincs Effect from Lincoln Cathedral in a delightful programme of music by G. Gabrieli, Tomkins, Jannequin, Holborne and Gibbons and the newly formed group, Zoffany (recorder, viols and sackbutt).

Joanna Eden Quartet

‘Songwriting with melody, mystery and bite,’ says Mojo magazine. With six solo albums to her credit, Joanna is considered one of the UK’s finest singer-pianists. Her style meanders through jazz, soul, bossa nova and blues, beautifully crafted compositions giving life to personal and expressive lyrics, which - like her songwriting hero Joni Mitchell - question and reflect life's changes. Joanna will feature work from her latest album Love Quiet.

Will is a Louth-based 15 year old who plays several instruments including keyboard, guitar and drums in a variety of genres and styles. He is a member of local band, Meridian and recently performed with Grimsby musician, Leon Blanchard at The Living Room, Cleethorpes.

Fini Bearman/Tom Cawley Quartet
The Blue Room at the Lawn, Lincoln
Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Fini Bearman joins Lincoln’s own pianist extraordinaire Tom Cawley and a top rhythm section for an evening of surprises. Fini’s music melds diverse influences with a voice that moves ‘effortlessly between a light precision and warm soulfulness unmistakably her own’, says John Fordham. Fresh from touring her fifth album Last Night of The World, this gig will be different: blending original songs, surprise standards…and some Bearman/Cawley magic.

A European Musical Journey Through the Ages

Sixteen Eighty Five members are delighted to be working again with the Lincoln Branch of Amnesty International in promoting this Midsummer concert of Renaissance and Baroque music and song and raising the profile of the work Amnesty International. The concert features music by Byrd (erstwhile organist at Lincoln Cathedral) and, of course, Handel and JS Bach from whose birth year (1685) we take our name, alongside music by other English, French, German, Italian and Spanish composers. Come and join us for the ride!

Cabra Singers promises a varied programme of joyful songs for a summer evening on Saturday July 5, at Hackthorn Village Hall. They range from that 13th century favourite Sumer is Icumen In to jazz, the Beatles and songs from the shows.
