Pass It On was the culmination of four years of Sing Up activities for 1000 pupils from 11 primary schools across the county, held at Lincolnshire Showground’s EPIC Centre in October 2010.
The event was an opportunity to display and reward the work and development of the participators; with a ceremony led by special guest Baz Chapman, the Director of Sing Up, who presented each school with a symbolic baton to mark them having all brilliantly achieved Platinum or Gold status in the Sing Up awards scheme. As well as this, it was designed to literally encourage them to ‘Pass It On’, transferring the enthusiasm for singing that they had developed to other year groups and schools to help maintain the project’s legacy.
Pass It On opened with a morning of exciting and diverse workshops for the pupils to enjoy, offering insight into skills such and rapping and beat-boxing. There was also a series of interactive games led by the children, teachers and singing leaders to help bring the performers together and interact before their concert in the afternoon.
This concert was the highlight of the day and saw the debut performance of a song that had been composed especially for the occasion by soundLINCS facilitator Liz Lenten, also titled ‘Pass It On’, which was performed by all 1000 pupils who were involved with the event.
