EMPower is a free learning and development project for 11-16 year olds which gives young people with a passion for music production the opportunity to collaborate with their peers and work alongside professional music producers to develop new skills and techniques.
Sessions enable you to explore the latest music technology equipment and related music software, as well as having the brilliant opportunity to make visits to a recording studio. The project will also offer an excellent chance to network with other young producers and exchange experiences and expertise.
Music producer Eddy Mentzel, otherwise known as AudioJunkie, said of the project; “There’s a fantastic group taking part in this project across a range of abilities and I have no doubt it will be a great experience for anybody who joins. EMPower is a great opportunity for young producers to get together and be creative which isn’t to be missed out on.”
As part of the project the young people involved created original music tracks, developing their recording skills through visiting Lincolnshire Music Services County Groups and worked to achieve an Arts Award. Some of the brilliant tracks they’ve created can be listened to below:
Young Music Producers aged 11 – 16 who are interested in learning more about EMPower can contact soundLINCS on 01522 510073 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
EMPower was funded by Youth Music and Lincolnshire Music and Arts Education Hub. The project was part of the Youth Music Programme ‘Creating Environments for Musical Progression’. The Aim of the Programme realised the musical potential of children and young people by creating environments that best supported their musical development.
One of our interns, Sam, went along to experience an EMPower session and has written about his time there. To read it, click here.
