Funding Boost For New Tricks Adult Music Service

B157Lincoln based community music organisation soundLINCS has received a £20,000 boost towards their New Tricks programme thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

The funding boost from Postcode Community Trust will enable soundLINCS to continue to develop New Tricks, the Arts Council England funded adult music programme now taking place in ten locations across Lincolnshire. The project provides adults of all instruments and abilities with the opportunity to shape a new musical group around their passions, whether that’s creating music, exploring new instruments or learning favourite tunes.

soundLINCS Grantham U3A Ukulele GroupNikki-Kate Heyes MBE, soundLINCS CEO, said: “We’re delighted that the Postcode Community Trust have recognised the exciting work taking place with New Tricks and have given us this great opportunity to continue to build and develop the project so that we can offer quality innovative music-making opportunities to as many adults across Lincolnshire as possible!”

“We truly believe that every adult should have the opportunity to express themselves musically and hope to set up at least 21 new groups over the lifetime of the project to create a vibrant culture of enjoying, learning, playing, writing and sharing music with others.”

Sessions are currently running in Lincoln, North Hykeham, Stamford, Spalding, Grantham, Nettleham and Gainsborough and cover genres from Lb153atin through to Orchestral and Brass. To see a full listing of sessions please visit www.soundlincs.org/events

So if you’re an existing musician, want to blow the dust off something you haven’t played since school, or even if you’re a complete beginner just wanting to try something new then New Tricks will have something for you!
