soundLINCS Appoints New Chair

At our AGM on the 24th October 2013, Heather Harker stepped down as Chair of the Board, handing over the reigns to Rob Williams following a formal presentation by the Trustees.

Heather Harker has been involved with soundLINCS since it was established in 1998. She started as Finance Consultant until 2008, when she then joined the Board of Trustees. She has held the position of Chair since October 2011 and although retiring from the Board Heather remains a strong advocate of soundLINCS’ work and the impact it has on the community.

“I’m overwhelmed by the kindness and good wishes of the Board and staff” said Heather. “It’s been amazing to be a part of soundLINCS over the past 15 years and to see the fantastic work that the charity has done.”

Heather is a talented visual and conceptual artist and was part of the community arts scene in Lincolnshire for some years prior to retirement. She has had a great involvement in leading workshops and creating community arts projects for both children and adults with disabilities.

Having been Vice Chair of the Board since October 2011, Rob Williams has now been appointed Chair. Rob is a specialist in strategic IT Management recently taking up the post of Operations Director of The Ticket Factory part of Birmingham’s NEC following ten years as IT Director with Nottingham’s Capital FM Arena and the National Ice Centre.

A musician himself, Rob has a passion for music and the arts and commented “I am very pleased to become Chair of the soundLINCS board and I’m looking forward to being a part of its growing work across the East Midlands. I’m particularly excited as we are celebrating 15 years of soundLINCS culminating in B15 – a spectacular event for singers and musicians happening in May 2014.
