First Notes Resource Pack
Making music with pre-school children is a vital part of growing up. Amongst all the fun and the noise, concepts like sharing, listening and communicating can be introduced gently and gradually, boosting confidence, fostering creativity and encouraging the attainment of curriculum targets.
The soundLINCS First Notes Resource Packs offer a complete guide to creative and constructive music sessions with young children. The packs relate directly to the Early Years Foundation Stage and were originally commissioned by Lincolnshire Birth to Five Service – a service managed by CfBT on behalf of Lincolnshire County Council – and is available exclusively from soundLINCS.
The First Notes Resource Pack comes with unique credentials. Since January 2003, a team of professional music facilitators has been trained and equipped by soundLINCS to deliver First Notes practical music-making workshops in nurseries, crèches, pre-schools and childminding groups across the county. Some 100,000 children, parents, carers and practitioners have now experienced First Notes in over 1,200 settings, embracing both the maintained and non-maintained sectors, and it is on this invaluable pool of experience that the ideas and activities within the Resource Pack are based.Supplied in a robust and self-contained wallet, complete with a supporting CD and wall-planner, the First Notes Resource Pack presents hundreds of musical activities, instruments and ideas for extension, all linked to key EYFS Areas of Learning and Development. Activity books cover musical concepts ranging from Pulse, Rhythm and Pitch to Soundworlds and Instrument Making, whilst a set of colourful picture cards cross-references instruments to the sounds they make and the playing techniques required.
