Shazam (Free on iOS and Android)

Perfect for: Ages 12+

What is it? Shazam is one of the World’s most popular apps, used by more than 100 million people each month to identify music, get song lyrics, and now to discover the music that artists discover themselves! We cannot believe we haven’t listed this one before! Shazam allows you to audio sample part of a song that may play in a programme, movie or advert that you are watching and then it will give you the name of the artist and song. It’s that easy!

Why do we love it? Do you ever have those moments where you keep hearing a song on the radio, or on an advert and you keep missing the name of it or just can’t for the life of you remember what it is? Shazam takes that little stress away! All you have to do is pull out your phone and hit the Shazam button and it will start analysing the audio that you are listening to. Within seconds, you will be given the name of the artist and song and where you can find it. How great is that?! As a music charity, we are always humming tunes to songs we cannot remember and this app has definitely been handy for us!
