What is it? Similar to Toca Band, Melody Jams allows you to mix and match from your favourites of an array of colourful monster musicians to create your own songs, choosing from a selection of different instruments and musical styles. It’s engaging and has a variety of locations and combinations to ensure it stays fresh and can hold a child’s attention for many hours of exploration.
Why do we love it? What sets it apart from similar apps is that you can jump in and get involved with the music-making! With simple versions of instruments including piano and xylophone available, you can put yourself at the centre of the band that you create!
Perfect For: Ages 8+.
What is it? VoxSyn is a voice-controlled synthesizer that goes beyond the traditional parameters of similar apps. Talk or sing into the microphone and you can trigger various synth sounds following your voice pitch or the notes touched on the hexagonal keyboard / external MIDI Keyboard.
Why do we love it? The app is brilliantly flexible. As well as the variety of options you can apply to your creation within the app, it is also Audiobus compatible, allowing you to export your tracks and connect with other apps, to create the most polished and layered piece possible.
Perfect For: Ages 0-5.
What is it? With Kapu you can paint the world with melodies! Bloom Tunes combines music and painting, teaching the users the basics of how melodies and tunes are crafted in a fun and engaging way. Watch the soil resonate as you play, sprouting new plants which flower and interact with you to play ever-changing music that you can join in with.
Why do we love it? It’s so accessible! The great things about Kapu is that there’s no wrong way to play with it, no matter what your child presses or how they poke, drag, wipe or play the screen, Kapu will respond, with engaging visuals and sounds to help them start their musical journey.
