Chocolate, crisps and alcohol may be off the agenda during Lent, but make sure making music with Apps stays on your list this March with 3 more of our favourite tools for your tablet or smartphone.
Let us know if you’ve used any of these apps and what you thought of them, plus what you’ve been using recently. Contact us on Facebook or Twitter with your favourites, and visit App Share to see more of ours!
Perfect For: Ages 7+.
What is it? Polyjamer is a brilliantly accessible way to enter the world of creating and sharing songs, with the app helping to make sure you sound great! Play with over 100 sounds using drums, bass, chords and melody notes to make your own unique music. There are a range of genres available to explore including electro, hip-hop, trap and house among others.
Why do we love it? What Polyjamer prides itself on is the ability to share and collaborate through every step of the music-making journey. Record and share your tracks on Facebook and any other social media platform, and you can easily connect with other nearby devices to jam together and form a polyjamer band!
Perfect For: Ages 5+.
What is it? Working either with the in-app piano, or any actual piano or keyboard within earshot of the device’s microphone, Dust Buster works like a Guitar Hero type game, listening to the notes you play to a variety of contemporary and classical songs to score your effectiveness in helping Granny to dust the germs off her piano – of course!
Why do we love it? The app really comes into its own if you’re able to play on a tablet device. This makes the keys the same size as those in a standard piano, making the skills you learn easily transferrable – unlike pressing coloured buttons on a plastic guitar or fiddling with a tiny keyboard app too small for adult fingers!
Perfect For: Ages 11+.
What is it? VocalEase is a vocal warm-up and training studio for musicians and public speakers alike. With a range of warm-up activities and exercises, as well as an innovative pitch pipe and videos from guest speakers and vocalists with tips, VocalEase will have you ready to own the show in no time at all!
Why do we love it? The great thing about VocalEase is the simplicity with which you can dip in and out. If you have hours to prepare there are enough options to keep you on it until the last moment, but if you just have a 2 minute opportunity to warm-up there is still plenty of benefits to be had by loading it up.
