Thursday 23rd February 2012 9.30am - 4.00pm Musicians and educators who work with vulnerable young people across the East Midlands are urged to keep Thursday 23 February free in order to attend a regional conference entitled ‘Music & Children in Challenging Circumstances’. Working in partnership to deliver this conference is MusicLeader East Midlands, host organisation soundLINCS – Lincolnshire Music Development Agency – and Leicester-based participatory arts specialists Soft Touch Community Arts. The conference will be held at Derby Quad in the city’s Cathedral Quarter, running from 9.30pm to 4.00pm. In addition to presentations by keynote speakers, the event will provide, information stalls, skills-sharing workshops, discussions on best practice, funding updates and networking opportunities Workshop sessions will be based on the following themes:

Following the success of its soundTRAIN pilot project, MusicLeader East Midlands is offering an exciting diversity of placements to local musicians keen to work with key music providers from across the region in order to develop their practical and professional experience.
